2024 is starting off with a big bang!
I applied to and was accepted into The Rock Retreat in Gibraltar. It’s in the Iberian peninsula between Spain and Morocco. Headed there to join writers from all over the world in May 2024.
The Rock Retreat is led by a talented group. Sarah Odedina, an editor for JK Rowling, author of the Harry Potter books, attracted me to the retreat. She’s also editor-at-large for Pushkin Press. She extended a courtesy to me years ago as I began my middle grade Children’s book journey. I look forward to the opportunity to learn more from her!
Other facilitators are Eleanor Dobbs, author of more than 50 books for children, and winner of the English Award for best children’s book. Ken Wilson Max is an author, illustrator and designer, as well as publisher for Kumusha, an imprint of Harper Collins UK. And rounding out the team is Victoria Wells Arms, literary agent at HG Literary in New York.
I’m gearing up for another experience of a lifetime.
