Write-On Door County, 2024

Thank you to Write On, Door County for my recent week-long writer’s residency.

Like all residencies, an application must be submitted. Once accepted, it’s a beautiful thing. A writer spends a week in a fully-equipped home, including a porch swing and a coop, which once served as writer Norb Blei’s writing space, and a walking trail.

Off Highway 42 in Fish Creek, WI, it feels like country living. I met and lived with another writer this time around. I’ve been fortunate to have previous stays.

My only scheduled commitment was a Saturday 10am story time.

Yes! I edited past pages of my new middle grade manuscript, and added a bit more. The focus gave me just what I needed to forge ahead.

One thing’s for sure, an author is her own taskmaster. The desire to write has to be strong. More to come on this latest middle grade book. Yes, it is part of The Stupendous Adventures series, featuring Aisha leading multicultural superheroes, working on CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing technology, and spy gadgets!
